• What is An Electronic Cigarette?

  Electronic cigarettes, also known as e-cigarettes or personal vaporizers, is a device that provides vaporized nicotine. Most people use it as an alternative of traditional cigarette as it looks, acts and tastes like a regular cigarette without tobacco and other harmful chemicals.

  An e-cigarette is powered by a battery and heat up the liquid with the help of the atomizer, producing inhaled vapor.

  Battery : A basic part for e-cig provides power to heat up the liquid.
  Atomizer : A critical part for e-cig consists of heating elements (namely Coils or Heads) for vapor production, so the vaporized nicotine can be inhaled. The life span is 3 to 6 months.
  Cartridge : A part contains the e-liquid. It is replaceable and refillable and is installed to the end of tube. The nicotine strength depends on the amount of liquid it holds.

  Note: Some e-cigarettes combine the atomizer and cartridge into one part. These are generally referred to as “Cartomizer”.

  E-Liquid : E-liquid, also called e-juice, is mainly a mix of Propylene Glycol (PG) and Vegetable Glycerin (VG). Most e-liquid contains different level of nicotine with different flavor.

  Both PG and VG are considered GRAS (Generally Recognized As Safe) by the FDA and EPA. Both are widely used in a variety of products for human consumption. PG is associated with a stronger “throat hit” but with less visible vapor, whereas VG has a sweetish taste and provides thicker vapor. Some users find PG irritates their throat and lungs and choose to use VG based e-liquids instead. Some e-liquids contain a blend of both ingredients to balance out the characteristics of each.

  However, it is recommended for most standard devices to be used with no more than 15-20% VG in the E-Liquid for better vapor production without negative effects of higher VG concentrations; for Sub-Ohm systems, at least an 80% VG is recommended, though some Premium e-Liquid brands that manufacture 50/50 blends that work well in both drippers and standard tank systems.
