The current generation of vapers is not very familiar with the devices of the company that will be reviewed today, but representatives of the old school will clearly not pass by, especially since the device itself looks very old-school and is clearly tailored for the MTL atomizer segment.

Today we will talk about SXmini MQ Class Mod.

The device box looks quite modest, gloomy and compact. On the outer casing there is traditionally the manufacturer's data, package contents and other technical information. We open the box and meet the box mod, instructions, warranty card and charging cable. There is nothing else to analyze here, so we immediately focus on the main guest.

We take out the box mod. It is difficult to describe in words, but it feels very compact in the hand. The appearance will definitely not leave lovers of the classics indifferent, since MTL atomizers of a classic cut (that is, the format that is mainly produced by Europeans) will look especially harmonious on it.

The box mod is very small and weighs little. The dimensions clearly allow the box mod to be a device for everyday use and going out. Even against the background of modern pod systems and disposables, it really looks very compact. It has a certain angularity, which may not suit the taste of some users. However, it feels very comfortable in the hand due to the rounded ends.

The body of the box mod is made of aluminum, the connector pad and base are made of stainless steel. The connector pad accepts atomizers up to 24 mm without overhanging.

There is a charging port on the bottom, which means that if you need to charge via a wire, you will have to place the device lying down. Right away about the charging current - we were promised 2 amperes, but the test showed only 1.32 amperes.

Next to the charging port we see a battery compartment covered with a threaded lid. I don't really like this solution with threaded lids, as I don't think it's convenient. In our case, the opinion hasn't changed, all the same nuances are inherent as in other devices with similar compartments - the lid is not very grippy, sometimes it's hard to get into the thread, the movement is not very smooth when screwing in, and as a result - a small noise (perhaps the threads will wear out).

On one of the sides we have a monochrome screen and the main control keys. The buttons do not protrude much relative to the body of the box mod, but their sharp edges are present. The moment with the side location of the activation button may be controversial for someone, not everyone likes the location of the button on the side.

I am not at all against the side placement, but in this copy I did not like the location of the button. It was not very convenient for me to work, both with the thumb and the index finger. My thumb did not rest on the key with its "pad", but with the inner side of the finger bend (if the button was on the left side of the panel, this problem would not have occurred). But left-handers have nothing to worry about - the "pad" of the left thumb falls perfectly on the key. Also, when working with the thumb of the right hand, I sometimes encountered the feeling that the Fire key sometimes caught on something. Perhaps this happened due to the specifics of pressing, or it has not yet been developed.

Let's look at the controls:

5*Fire – enter the menu (operating modes, brightness, on/off, etc.)
3*Fire – lock the Fire button
-+ - lock buttons + and -
Fire + - rotate screen
The screen is small, but all the necessary information is present. It is good that this is a regular classic monochrome display, and all the newfangled color delights are clearly of no use to it. The brightness is sufficient, brightness control is also present.

On the back there is a chrome strip with the model name, which is very prone to collecting fingerprints.

here's probably no point in describing the operating modes. There's practically everything here: both the Orthodox variwatt, and the varivolt, and the temperature control for those who are bored, and the curve mode.

Let's move on to the board. And the board works great, you shouldn't expect anything else from YiHi . And the functionality is pleasing, for our time it should be considered an advanced level. Power change up to 25 Watts is carried out in 0.1 steps, then by 1 Watt.

In all modes, the box mod shows itself well. There is no undercooking, I did not notice any misfires or delays. However, on the Internet there are some “lucky ones” whose device periodically gave a Short (short circuit) - apparently, no one has canceled the Chinese lottery with defects.

Conclusion:
It seems that the device does not have any critical disadvantages, but there will still be subjective nitpicking. SXmini has been on the market for a long time, so the demand for them is appropriate. I would definitely not be so picky about beginners. Nevertheless, even despite the nitpicking, and taking into account the shortage of inexpensive and compact box mods on the market, I will still put it in the must-have category. It definitely captivates the user with its strict appearance, its compactness and the operation of the control chipset. And the price tag does not seem to be very expensive, especially against the background of the currently absent alternative box mods on the DNA board.

About the price:

The Russian market offers a price tag of around 5500-5800 rubles for a box mod. The Sourcemore.com store with a promo code gives a price of $40.39 (With coupon: SMCM )

Pros:

Good quality materials and assembly
Convenient control
Compact dimensions
Light weight
Operation of the board
Good screen
Nitpicks:

The charging current does not match the declared value
Inconvenience of using the device with the right hand
Markable chrome strip with logo on the body
